Are Sleeves Too Much to Ask For?

Okay, I have been biting my lips and can’t any longer! Why oh why are so many plus size dresses sleeveless?

I can honestly say I don’t know many women, plus size or not who like to bare their arms. Unless you are Michelle Obama, most women tend try to hide the arm jiggle.

Obviously women are buying them because they are in the stores year after year after year. Could this be a case of having little to no choice, as typical with plus size clothing options (especially in Canada). My thoughts are women are buying them because “it fits” and it satisfies a specific need, as opposed to buying something because they “love it” and “it is exactly what I was looking for.”

Okay, sure as the sales persons suggests, “wear a shrug”. I am sorry, being large and living in Ontario where the humidity makes your make-up melt and your hair frizz so you look like a Chia pet, adding layers is NOT an option! Well, alright there is one exception where I wouldn’t mind wearing a shrug and that is with a Maxi Dress, love them!

Designers, love the fabrics, love the colours but is a simple sleeve too much to ask for?

Here are couple of cute options of dresses with sleeves from

  1. Interesting. I think I can understand your frustrations. However, as I man, I must say that I really like the sleeveless dresses and tops... on women of all shapes and sizes. It's one of the things I look forward to when the weather gets warmer.

  3. The sleeveless thing drives me crazy-I find so many clothes that DO have sleeves are far too tight can they not make them with more room? It's just ridiculous with all the fabrics and cuts to choose from to not have more options.
